When Noora started a Pre-Entry ESOL course with us last September she had a very low level of English.

However, she was extremely motivated to learn the language so she could help her young son with his schoolwork. She wants to be there for him during parents’ evenings and assemblies and to understand and immerse herself in his educational journey. For herself, she also dreams of becoming a Nursery Nurse as she loves working with children.

Noora is highly motivated, works very hard, completes all her homework and asks for additional tasks to complete at home. She also supports other learners in the class and is always ready and willing to help anyone who is struggling. She has already successfully passed her first
English exam. Even though she was very nervous, she impressed the examiner with her speaking and understanding especially as she started at Pre-Entry level. Her dedication and hard work enabled her to pass.

Noora is from the Yemen where the majority of her family still live, so ESOL classes are also a way for her to meet new people, to learn more about the culture and lifestyle of the UK. Even though she misses her family and relatives in Yemen, she has gained a new family from her classmates and teacher. Noora is at the start of her learning journey and is determined to make the most of this opportunity to make a better future for herself and her family.
