Karline and Sabina are two busy moms with children at St Anne’s Catholic School in Birmingham.

Thinking it would be good to take part in some fun learning activities with their children, they joined a Creative Families course as part of our Family Learning programme at the school.

One course led to another and last February they started a Floristry qualification.

In the meantime, discovering that they both had creative flair and made things that people wanted to buy they decided to set up their own floristry and cake making businesses. Enjoying working together, they often combine their talents so they can provide a one-stop solution for people organising events and special occasions.

Karline and Sabina see themselves very much as being part of their community and are busy building thriving businesses amongst their local network of families, friends and other parents at the school. They also recently supported a Mother’s Day Flower & Cake sale at St Anne’s to raise funds for the school.

While they are busy looking after their families they are enjoying the flexible hours their businesses currently offer them. They both plan to progress onto a higher-level course with BAES in September so they can continue to develop their creative skills.

We look forward to seeing what will happen over the next few years with these two driven and determined new business owners.
