Textiles: Craft for Wellbeing - Introduction

Course details

A set of short courses focusing on craft techniques to improve and focus on wellbeing aimed at beginners with little or no experience of craft skills. The courses are designed to promote wellbeing, tackle isolation whilst bringing the therapeutic benefits of craft and building a sense of community online with a shared subject interest. We have specialist tutors to deliver the content and learners will benefit from the shared knowledge and community craft experience.

What to expect from the course

You will explore various traditional craft techniques such as weaving, knitting and crochet. The process of making and working with our hands has been shown to have beneficial effects, both on our mental and physical wellbeing. Crafting can create a sense of calm, whilst stimulating the brain as we learn a new skill, giving us a great sense of achievement.

It can also be a fun social activity, enabling us to interact with others, sharing sewing ideas and chatting about our day.
