Ebtesam left the Yemen in 2021 and started studying ESOL in 2022. Since then, she has progressed to Level 1 and also started a computer course.
Soon after starting studying with BAES, she became an ESOL buddy supporting Pre-entry learners.
There are many things that make Ebtesam stand out. She works exceptionally hard and takes her studies seriously. She is a model student, always attends, always on time, always does her homework and works so well with her classmates. She never likes to be absent and even attended an online tutorial whilst caring for a relative in hospital!
Having previously worked in finance, she would now like to become a teacher or teaching assistant as she loves helping people.
Our learning community plays a significant part in Ebtesam’s life. It has helped her to develop in confidence as well make new friends. When Ebtesam started learning with BAES, she needed her sister to translate for her. Now, she can do what she needs to do herself. This in itself is a massive achievement. However, Ebtesam has also gained a personal achievement which is also a step towards her future goal as she recently got a job as an Arabic teaching assistant.
With her characteristic determination and willingness to go the extra mile, Ebtesam has already made herself indispensable to her colleagues. Getting a job is a real milestone for Ebtesam, and she should be very proud of her achievement. The sky is the limit.
