Drawing & Painting Workshop - Beginners and Intermediate
Course Aims
This course will enable you to develop basic, or to build on existing, drawing and painting skills, by working in a mixed group on individual projects which you will negotiate with your tutor.
Will I gain a qualification?
No – this is a non-accredited course.
Course Length

Who is this course for?
This course if for anyone who wants to develop skills in drawing and painting, either for self-improvement, to aid relaxation, or to progress to other art and design courses.
Do I need any prior knowledge, skills or qualifications?
You won’t need experience of drawing or painting for this course. However, as it involves an amount of reading and some work around measurements and proportion, you will need to have basic literacy and numeracy skills. You will have a short initial assessment at the start of the course to ensure that it is suitable for you.
What will I learn?

Basic or more advanced levels of skill in drawing as appropriate.

Basic or more advanced levels of skill in painting with one or more types of paint as appropriate.

The importance of close observation.

How to use and store equipment and materials correctly and safely.

Knowledge of art historical movements and styles.
What could this course lead to?
This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills you will need to progress to higher level study in Drawing and painting, or to join other art and design based courses. You will have the opportunity to exhibit your work at the BAES End of Year Show.

Your responsibilities as a learner on this course
To ensure that you gain maximum benefit from this course you will need to attend all sessions, be punctual and bring the correct materials and equipment to each session.
Important information
Course fees do not cover the cost of equipment or materials. For the first session, please bring soft drawing pencils, a folder for your work and a sketchpad. As the course progresses, you will need to buy paints, brushes and other sundry items. Your tutor will advise you about the detail.
