Course overview
Woodwork – Beginners / Intermediate
This course is aimed at beginners with none, little or some experience of woodwork.
The course will introduce you to basic stages of joinery, using tools, equipment and material safely while working on a small bespoke project. For intermediate level you may want to work on your own project with guidance. You will explore woodwork basics and different technique applications to build your confidence.
By the end of the course you will have produced a personal item.
Materials needed for first lesson: Pencil and paper
Woodwork – Beginners
This short course is suitable for those with none, little or no experience in woodwork. In this short introduction course, we will focus on using tools, equipment and material safely.
Further modules cover joints, finishes, basic construction, and technique application. You will produce samples of techniques with instructions in a portfolio for future references.
You will learn the basic stages of joinery for a basic project. Throughout the 6 weeks you will upcycle, repair or make a small bespoke project of your choice.

Woodwork - Intermediate
This short course is suitable for those with little or some experience in woodwork. In this short course we will help you build and improve your woodwork skills. You will continue focusing on using tools, equipment and material safely.
Further modules cover joints, finishes, basic construction, and technique application in more depth. You will continue to produce samples of techniques with instructions in a portfolio for future references.
Throughout the 6 weeks you will upcycle, repair or make a small bespoke project of your choice.

If you are looking to start a career in woodwork the work created during these courses can be a start to accessing Further Education courses in Woodwork/carpentry. Our tutors can help provide information and guidance about this pathway.
Initial course resources / additional cost
Some tools and equipment are available for your use at the centre. However, you may need to purchase some extra tools and materials for your particular art projects, this will be discussed with your tutor if required.
