It will prepare you to progress to qualifications at Level 3 in Health by supporting you to gain knowledge and skills relevant to the health care sector. Units include:

- Barriers to Health
- Health Care Practice
- Human Physiology
- Understanding Mental Health
- Note Taking
- Plagiarism
- Word Processing
Who is the course for?
The qualification is particularly suitable if you need to:
- Develop skills that will equip you for further study.
- Gain an understanding of the vocational area of health.
- Prepare for further vocational learning in the health sector
- Learn more about employment opportunities in the health sector.
NB: This course requires a serious commitment and applicants should think carefully about their ability to undertake and achieve these objectives before enrolling.
Do I need any knowledge, skills or qualifications?
You will need to have literacy and numeracy skills at level 2 and be prepared to work towards GCSE’s in English and Maths.
Will I gain any qualifications?
You will gain a level 2 Certificate in Skills for Further Study in Health which is identified as a progression towards Access to Higher Education Diploma in Health.
How will I learn?
You will be taught and supported by a tutor and be expected to attend your group twice a week. You will be assessed through a variety of well-defined tasks and activities. These will allow you to use the relevant skills and knowledge you have gained to review your own learning to identify areas for development. Some independent study and research is required.
What could this course lead to?
Once this course is completed you may progress onto Access to Higher Education Diploma in Health.
What materials or equipment will I need to provide?
The most important resource you will have is your willingness to learn. You should also have a supply of pens, paper and a folder / dividers to keep your work safe.

Completion is expected within the academic year. Learners whose completion is delayed may be subject to an additional assessment fee.
