Content: This course/ workshop aims to develop a better understanding of mathematical concepts and skills which you can apply in your everyday life. Learners will be taught how to
- develop their skills with simple functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to improve your mental arithmetic
- work out percentages and fractions for items
- use and converting metric units when purchasing items
Fear Not Maths
Duration: This course is 6 weeks long
Content: This course/ workshop aims to enable you to acquire basic mathematical knowledge and to increase your understanding, confidence and skill set in order to use mathematics in everyday situations. Learners will be taught how to
- develop their basic functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in everyday life contexts
- apply mathematical concepts such as percentages, fractions, decimals and metric units in everyday life situations
Brilliant Budgeting
Duration: This course is 6 weeks long
Content: This course/ workshop aims to explore ways and raise awareness of how to manage and budget your finances. You will talk about, learn, and engage with money issues and develop strategies to save money on everyday living expenses. Learners will be taught
- what financial literacy is and why it is important
- how to make smarter financial choices by using mathematical functions
- how to calculate interests for loans, credit cards, mortgages etc.
- the cost of food and energy and how to save
Maths Bridging Course
Duration: This course is 6 weeks long
Content: This course aims to provide you with the essential Mathematical knowledge and skills you will need to progress onto an accredited course. It aims to improve your confidence and fluency required for work and day.
Learners will learn about: Numbers, Fractions, Decimals and Percentages, Measures, Shape and Space, and Handling Data.
Course requirements
Learners will need access to a tablet / laptop / smartphone or PC. They will also need an email address and access to the internet.
What could these courses lead to?
On completion of the course all learners will receive, a certificate of achievement and this course could lead to further accredited qualifications such as Maths Entry 3 to Level or Functional skills Maths Entry 2 to Level 1.
At the end of the course, we will provide information about other learning opportunities and courses for adults to join in the local area.
