Magic maths: Part 1 & Part 2

Duration: Each part is 6 weeks long

Content: This course / workshop aims to develop a better understanding of mathematical concepts and skills which you can apply in your everyday life. 

You will learn how to -  

  • develop and improve your mental arithmetic 
  • apply simple functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to solve problems 
  • work out percentages and fractions 
  • use and convert metric units and read scales
  • name shapes and their properties
  • estimate, round off and order numbers
  • tell the time using the 24 hour and learn about money

Fear not maths: Part 1 & 2

Duration: Each part is 6 weeks long

Content: This course/ workshop aims to enable you to acquire basic mathematical knowledge and to increase your understanding, confidence and skill set in order to use mathematics in everyday situations.

You will learn how to -  

  • use functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in everyday life contexts
  • apply mathematical concepts such as percentages, fractions, decimals and metric units in everyday life situations
  • tell the time using the 24 hour and learn about money
  • develop a better understanding of place value and decimal application 
  • examine data and interpret it and use it to calculate averages and range

Preparation for Functional Skills - Part 1 & 2

Duration: Each part is 6 weeks long

Content: This course aims to provide you with the essential Mathematical knowledge and skills you will need to progress onto an accredited course. It aims to improve your confidence and fluency required for everyday life and employment. You will learn how to -  

  • apply functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to solve multifunctional problems  
  • add and subtract negative numbers. 
  • calculate fractions of an amount, equivalent fractions and change improper fractions to mixed fractions
  • add and subtract fractions

Course requirements

Learners will need access to a tablet / laptop / smartphone or PC. They will also need an email address and access to the internet.

What could these courses lead to?

On completion of the course all learners will receive, a certificate of achievement and this course could lead to further accredited qualifications such as Maths Entry 3 to Level or Functional skills Maths Entry 2 to Level 1.

At the end of the course, we will provide information about other learning opportunities and courses for adults to join in the local area.
